DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE WELFARE TO YOU?
What if someone were to live off the fruits of your labors and not be willing to pay for it?
What if someone reaped the benefit of the taxes you pay and did not or would not pay taxes themselves?
What if your taxes paid for the highways, sanitation, street repairs and snow plowing and there was someone who could afford to pay for these things and refused?
What if you were billed for goods and services and got less than you paid for in return?
These are enough “What if’s.” Just think of the monarch’s of days gone by. Those individuals levied taxes, they hired officials to collect what they felt was their due and lived off the sweat of the peasants brow. What did those individuals do in return for that money? They bought jewels, traveled in luxury, had tailors make them the finest clothes, etc. They also contracted their fellow wealthy land owners and friends to do work and get paid out of the “government” funds. I put government in quotations because their government was to control the peasants while they lived the good life.
These analogies have a striking resemblance to the super rich of today. The want to take advantage of the benefits paid out of the middle class taxes but do not want to participate in the payment for those benefits. They want you and me to adhere to the laws of the land. Yet, they want to be exempt from those same laws. They feel they are above prosecution because they have enough money to avoid legal entanglements. They holler loudly about the people on welfare yet they accept huge government contracts and charge more for their services than they are worth. They want the poor and the middle class to starve or die with little or no health care when they can afford to go to the most specialized physicians to cure their ills. They want to repeal minimum wage laws while enjoying huge profits, private jets and world travel. They make and ship defective products and expect the consumer to pay for these services. They come crying to the government when they make huge financial blunders and want you and me to bail them out. DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE WELFARE TO YOU?
In other words if the reward is big enough they will take the money handed out by the government. Yet when it comes to the average American benefiting by the fruits of their labors they think it is a government handout. They get their friends into political office and make sure that they extract a pound of flesh in return. They want their already poorly run company to get government contracts. They want their politicians to award these contracts without competetition with other better qualified companies. DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE WELFARE TO YOU?
The mistakes these companies make pollute the air and water. They cost people their lives and livelihood. They make decisions that impact all of humanity. Yet, they don’t want to be accountable for their mistakes. DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE WELFARE TO YOU?
