My parents took me to a lot of bluegrass concerts starting when I was very young (probably less than 1 year old), so I don't know.
Excluding local acts playing at a bar, my first rock concert was The Black Crowes, and my first rap/hip-hop was Digable Planets.
The Carpenters at Universal Studios in 1971. I was in junior high.
Big Mama Thornton, Bobby Blue Bland, and Mississippi John Hurt. Not a concert. A tiny little club in the rough part of Berkeley CA. 1965. Two high school friends and I were the only white people in the place. Actually, the audience totaled about 20. Blues was not hot at that time.
The Beatles, Komiskey Park, Chicago, 1965. Top that!...Okay, never mind. I just read where someone else saw the Beatles in '65.
Can't!
Bonnie Raitt and The Beach Boys at NCSU in Raleigh, NC.. l'm thinking late 70s, but not sure.
ZZTop, Las Cruces NM... The last song it was a master piece of execution. The last few notes, the stage got filled out with fog. The drums kept on playing to the last second when the music stopped, the fog vanished and all three of them were gone....puff...the rapture. Unforgettable moment....
Ignoring the christian rock bands, my first concert was Metallica in Alrlington, 2017. They are my favorite band and I’m really glad I saw them. There was so much energy and I became fast friends with those sitting near me. !m! Yeah !m!
My first concert, without my parents, was Cheap Trick in 1983. My memories had John Waite there as well, but looking it up I find it it was Aldo Nova and Danny Spanos. A friend had to explain to me what that "strange" smelling smoke was that hovered in the air all about. I was so sheltered.
First rock concert was ZZ Top - Deguello Tour 1980 I was 15. My first concert was in 2nd grade with my classmates all of us on recorder. I don’t remember the set list.
The Kinks......Bournemouth, England April 1968.
When I was 13. Shaun Cassidy. Some things you never forget ?
My first album!
Oh man. It's really hard to say. a few friends and I used to go to a bajillion clubs and barsto see all kind of punk bands back then. If I had to guess it would have to be the Ramones at CBGB's.
I think my first real concert though was around 1884 at the New Haven collisium. It was Metallica's Master of Puppets, opening up for Ozzy's Ultimate sin tour.
So I can actually say that I got to see Cliff Burten while he was still alive.
Saw the "Ride The Lightening" tour in Germany in 1984. Cliff was awesome !!!! The opening band was named "Tank".
@MacTavish Fucking awesome man, I would loved to have seen that show.
Concert as opposed to gig? Metallica, '89 touring on ' ... And Justice for All'.
Do Christmas concerts at church or school count?
I was envisioning concert hall/stadium as opposed to a school or non professional.
Why not? It was not specific enough so even a garage band will count as an answer... so a church organist too.
E.L.O. 76. Also the first time I smelled weed. The spaceship was lopsided...
1983 at california university in Pa . Donnie Iris.-lol
