I work to remind myself to actually be aware of where my head is at. I have triggers that remind me to "be in the now" throughout the day. I love the way I am becoming more in control of my thoughts by doing this. Is there anyone else out there who does this? If so, what results have you had?
I believe I'm doing better at living in the moment after deciding earlier this year to make substantive life changes to live more happily. Also, having studied improv, I know how effective it is, at least in theory.
well congrats, and enjoy each new moment. Namaste with hugs
I try to live more in the moment. It's not natural for me, but I find when I can I feel less stressed.
practice makes perfect so they say... I use triggers remind me, like if I see a spotted dog, it reminds me, if I see a yellow vehicle, it reminds me, if I am washing my hands it reminds me, I add my list of triggers keep life interesting and challenging. Namaste with hugs
At my age, I live for today, for I have few tomorrows. But, in living in the moment, one must strive not to cram in a multitude of desires, but to learn to take that which comes joyfully and naturally and enjoy it -- as a connoisseur of fine brandy snifts the aroma and savors the bouquet.
That I learned almost 60 years ago when spending in a situation in which, if the situation deteriorated, I was told that a had a maximum of 48 hours to live.
There is nothing like the fear of death bring clarity the mind. I am happy that you are able "be in the now" and hope you continue cram in lots of desires. I merely desire continue living my glorious life and enjoying the smell of the coffee. Namaste with hugs
Living in the moment is all there is to do.
I reject anything else as nonsense and having no basis in logic.
not sure about "all there is do" but certainly glad your able be in the moment 24/7 if that's what suits you. I prefer more of a balance in my daily life. Namaste with hugs
I long to answer have my moments. Listening to Alan Watts, driving, playing my guitar, these things can be Zen like for me.
wonderful, love Alan, often fall asleep listening him him, his voice is velvet, which is why I don't him in the car lol. Namaste with hugs
@Dippyhippy audible Xanax is what I call it.
Lol...AW and driving is dangerous.
I really have to start practicing this. 2018 has been a bust. No good news all year.
we are energetic beings of light, what we give out comes back... maybe when you are living your daily life on autopilot you are sending out the wrong messages to the universe which is why being in the here and now works so well. Namaste with hugs
I don't think I know how anymore. I used to. I don't know how I've lost that. I think too much anymore maybe.
its not difficult get back into doing it. I have "triggers" throughout the day to remind me. Things like, seeing a yellow vehicle, or washing my hands, or red umbrellas, or having to sit at a red light, they are all reminders for me to bring my mind back to the here and now maybe only takes 5 seconds.... but done a dozen times a day I find it helps me be more aware of my mind and its games. namaste with hugs
I used to constantly worry and fret about the future and everything that was happening and then about 3 years ago I got really sick and tried to die and I've spent the last three years working my way out of a wheelchair I'm almost in complete remission and I have learned that the past and the future or both Illusions and that all I have is this moment right now and I will not allow myself to think about anything other than what I'm doing at this moment as the old saying goes learn from the past plan for the future but live for today
very well done you... keep up the great work Namaste with hugs
@Dippyhippy thank you
I used to be very good at it when I was practicing meditation and now I forget! Still practice but often forget. Stupid eh!
maybe you can set yourself some triggers remind you like i do. Some of my triggers are: red lights, i use 10 seconds sitting there remind me, yellow vans, are another trigger, washing hands is another. spotted dogs are another... I have a few each day bring me back the moment...worth a try?
I find it easy to be here now, but when needed, (doing mindless tasks) I can let my mind run free and play.
I am often away with the fairies, it is wonderful. But I also enjoy my "in the now" moments too namaste with hugs
@Dippyhippy
And to you as well!
Get accused of that all the time.. Feels like growing pains to me
glad you get accused of it all the time, not sure of the analogy of the growing pains...is that a good thing or not? curious namaste with hugs
@Dippyhippy It’s appeared to me a trait of the youth, living in the moment.. Makes me feel young, a good thing
I try. If something disturbing happens I try to consciously observe my body’s thoughts and feelings. I’m learning to get centered again quickly. Are you following some specific guide book?
I just read “The Untethered Soul”, which stresses this very thing.
Ill look for that book and give it a read. I am not following any particular path or guide, merely what I have learned works for me. I like be in the moment a dozen times or more each day, and remind me do it I have triggers. It works for me and my life is very stress and worry-. This has been my way of life for a long time now and I would not choose live any other way. Namaste with hugs
