I've been seeing this unfold over the years and I tend to agree with this article. I know what this article is saying won't be well received but some.
....*And strong and disturbing evidence is emerging that these anti-biotechnology groups have suceeded in part in muddying the media and scientific waters by aligning themselves with Vladmir Putin’s disinformation campaign to destabilize the United States.
These activists regularly trot out a litany of false accusations about their targets, with university professors as frequent victims. The most notorious of these “hit groups” is U.S. Right to Know, or USRTK, which pretends to be part of a grassroots movement, but is actually mostly funded by the Organic Consumers Association. OCA is not a mainstream organic trade group but a rump organization of science deniers known for their rejection of medical vaccines (They cause autism!), support for homeopathy and believing that Zika virus outbreaks are a conspiracy perpetrated by the world’s chemical companies.
USRTK has filed harassing Freedom of Information requests for emails and documents of at least a hundred public university faculty and staff members, hoping to find snippets which, when cherry-picked from hundreds of thousands of emails and taken out-of-context, might imply conflicts of interest. Their efforts to undermine scientists and public policy scholars whose work threatens organic agriculture—as genetic engineering continually widens the already-large productivity gap between conventional and organic practices–follow a familiar pattern.....
Gmo's suck ! Monsanto sucks ! Roundup sucks !
Glyphosate sucks !
I have yet to see any hard, scientific data on the risks of GMOs, and am inclined to group the anti-GMO crowd with the anti-vax'ers. That said, while the jury is still out on 'collusion,' we need not waste our time debating over Russian attempts to interfere in our elections. For me at least, I see no reason to connect the two issues in this manner.
Personally, I prefer no herbicide or pesticide produce. As to round-up ready corn, soy, etc. I question why only casings from non-gmo animals are used these days for sausage making. I am not against all gmo activity just the splicing done in Roundup ready products.
We now have supper weeds that are resistant to roundup. Just as we have bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Misuse is the biggest problem.
The again look how aspartame was okayed by the FDA. I do not like cheaters, or obfuscation or out right lying.
the biggest tragedy to date is Golden rice: how poor countries were duped into refusing a life saving food. (read the article in it's entirety)
@Lukian OH!! right forgot about THAT one!!
