Where have you found the most amazing regional food in the US?

Please share your food experiences so I know where to eat when I visit.

One of my favorite things to do, when I travel anywhere, is to explore the food culture specific to the place I'm traveling. "The best of..." will usually be the first thing I map out in preparation for my visit.

A few that made me say Oh Yes:

Mac N Cheese in Atlanta - Juke Joint

Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago - Pizza Uno

Seafood Chowder in Seattle - Pikes Place Chowder

A Mediterranean Brunch in NYC - Somewhere near Bleecker St and MacDougal (I'm sad that I can't remember the name of the place)

Enjoy

I had excellent ethnic food when I lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is a wonderful small city, and when I lived there many years ago, there were small bohemian type neighborhoods, with great restaurants. Italian, South American, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, among many other types. I also lived for a few years in New Jersey, and there was lots of great ethnic restaurants. I spent a lot of ti.e in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and they had a homemade ice cream/gelato shoppe. I don't remember all the names, since it was years ago, but I'm sure there are still great places to eat. When I lived in New Hampshire, I went to a tiny crepe shop, in Dover that was delicious. It was called Blue Moon, I think.

Best Chinese food I ever had was in Kansas City, MO, of all places. (I realize that is not a "regional" situation)
I wish I could remember the name of the place. I was there in something
like 1981.
They actually had Peking Duck on the menu that didn't require ordering 24
hours in advance. It was delicious!

I'm about as well traveled as a mouse in a science experiment but if you tell me Nashville Hot Chicken or a Kentucky Hot Brown aren't among the greatest damn foods in the world I would require a super convincing explanation.

@Stacey48 Prince’s chicken in Nashville is the famous joint but beware, it’s insanely hot. I haven’t even had it n I lived really close by for a few years. They won’t serve anything beyond medium spicy to white folks because most of us can barely handle what they call medium lol.

I have had Nashville Hot Chicken and, yeah, it's damn good. I have never had Kentucky Hot Brown, though. I had to Google it to find out what it is. I am definitely going to give it a try when the opportunity presents itself.

Exploring regional food is one of the best ways to experience the diverse culture of each place you visit. While you're savoring regional delights in the US, I must say that my recent trip to Dublin led me to an incredible Irish cafe. The atmosphere was cozy, and the food was absolutely mouthwatering. European cuisine, with its rich flavors and comforting dishes, always manages to make me feel at home no matter where I am.As for your food discoveries, Mac N Cheese in Atlanta sounds like a cheesy dream come true, and Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago is legendary.
