I’m still thinking about this divide. What will it mean for America? AI and robotics are the next evolution of our economy and the world economy. That type of technological infusion will move industries that are information based forward and grow jobs in those areas. Interestingly, those tend to be Democratic heavy places. It will have the opposite effect in traditions rural Republican areas as more automation has the potential to continue to depress their local economies.
People are moving in search of jobs which should cause some population shift. However, with the electoral college in place that sets us up for more results like the last election. More electoral college votes for candidates who don’t win the majority vote. Our policies are shaped now by the donor class and corporate interests. What is their incentive to help the rural poor? What is the profit motive for them?
This will create an interesting dynamic in elections go forward.

It is not a theory but a hypothesis.
