Ok, one more post on this topic. I get email newsletters on sex and relationships from a company that sells non-porn dvds, books. I've never bought anything, but the articles are often interesting. This came this week, the strangest Rush reference I've ever seen...

"Is your lady analytical? Does she pay deep attention to detail? Is she more of an introvert? She’s a Director.....

....Put on some Rush, Gabber or Beethoven — the kind of music with a mathematical structure. "

I have some time, so I'll tell my Rush story. Growing up in nyc, knew nothing of them except the few radio airplay songs. Was introduced to them on a visit with a co-worker of my dad, who lived in suburban nj. Had a son my age, so I hung out with him and his friends, all Rush fans. This was in about 1982. They could have been the model for Subdivisions - Backs of cars, basement bars, the whole bit. Came back to ny as the only Rush fan of my group, but I did convince them to come see them at Madison square garden once. In the late 80s I got more into metal and then alternative and new wave...then got "saved" at 19 into a fundamentalist church, so out went all "worldliness".

Fast forward 25 yrs, I found my way out of Christianity, and for the last 5 years been reaquainting myself with all that I missed, including 2 decades of Rush. I started where I left off with my cassettes (lol), buying cds of 2112, Signals, Moving Pictures, Caress, Farewell. I just made it through the 2 nd pass through The Studio Albums 1989-2007 (7CD), which I had asked for and was given by my still very much Christian wife for Christmas.

Oh hell ya!!! Fly by Night.. one of the best..

I know, I love Flu By Night. I don't remember if it was Alex or Geddy but one of them said it was their least fav album.

2

Absolutely! Geddy Lee is a legend

I agree
I wanted play drums and guitar because of Alex and Neil.

2112 and Moving Pictures were great albums. Do you like Jethro Tull?

Moving Pictures was my indoctrination album. LOL I was hooked from then on.

<3 I generally just write people off if they don't like rush 😉

Seriously! I mean, I love most types of music but RUSH, the holy trinity even if you don't care for the music you have to appreciate the considerable talent.

Never heard of them but went and listened to a track on YouTube. In exchange I give you a song I first heard and loved before you probably were a twinkle in your parents eyes. In this clip the group is performing after many years of its ongoing popularity. They are a year younger than Rush. I hope you enjoy an elderly Steeleye Span and Thomas the Rhymer:

A compilation containing Spirit of the radio didn't leave the tape player in my first car until I sold the car.

Nice! I was that way with Moving Pictures. 2112 was my second album and it blew me away.

@GrungeGirl90s I'm trying to recall what other awesome music was on that tape, Nazareth (this flight tonight), Alice Cooper (halo of flies) Led Zep (whole lotta love) and Saxon (747, Strangers in the night) are the ones I can remember.
