The deep essence of religion and the true spirit of science are complementary. When religion is all about belief or when science is about debunking ideas that conflict with a materialist/reductionist world view, that is when science and religion clash.
It’s not a question of science or religion. The real dichotomy is between those who are deeply aware and have open, searching minds, and those who cling to some sort of limited, dogmatic world view. Dogmatic beliefs can be couched in religious terminology or in scientific jargon.
It is noteworthy that half of scientists in the US believe in God.
