A poem I wrote for Valentine's Day.
Kind of Dr. Suess meets Robert Frost.
Stay
By Eric Trommater
Stay as you are
Please never change
That's all I ask of you
Never go far
From where my thoughts range
My heart beats higher
You opened the door to my feelings
No more fleeing my soul
Love's taken control
My only confession
And erstwhile confession
Is I did as little as I could do
To show you how I felt about you
You picture me as a hard hearted man
But pictures can change with the hourglass sands
The colors can mellow as the paper turns yellow
And as I stand and stake my claim
Only the frame remains the same
Stay as you are
Sweet as you are
I like who I am when I'm around you
I'm with you my star
By boat or by car
And I'm not giving up
Now that I found you
A flirt, a glance, a wink in my direction
Each motion stays with me
After hours of reflection
You're a part of me
And always will be
My one and only . . . Stay!
I'm sure your special person appreciates the sentiment!
