Heart warming tale of love and forgiveness or bloody stupid story about a wasteful bastard stealing his idiot Dad's money and cheating his brother out of half of his inheritance?
It seems that in this current environment, there are a lot of prodigal children returning home.
Follows in caring for the, "least among us."
I would welcome back anyone in need, but I would not trust or respect them again until they earned, I certainly would not spoil them all over again at the expense of those had been good and loyal friends and family, that's a dick's trick.
Always thought this was a discouraging story to those who work hard and do the right thing.
Blessed is the layabout.... erm that seems to be it.
This is one of the few Biblical parables that I really like because it's relatively morally advanced for its era. It implicitly questions whether for example the "good" son should have received the "bad" son's half or if the "bad" son should have been free to make mistakes with it. It implicitly questions the goodness of the "good" son and investigates the nature of goodness of character. It is actually thought-provoking.
