This is a question mostly for you guys/girls. I am close to 60, all my younger years I spent mostly with people much older, friends with common interests. Now that I am older, my house is always filled with people my kids ages, has been like this for over 25 years, even when my own kids are away. Most of my facebook contacts are under 35 and almost all of the phone calls I receive are from people between 17 and 35. Is this a general trend? Do you guys have many friends/contacts in older generations?
Twice to be exact and working on third time. About only contact when we dance Salsa.
Have friends my own age and older but they are mostly married homebodies. Think my son's friends are stalking me on Facebook, instead of me stalking my son, I go somewhere with him and next thing I know I've got more friend requests from people I could have given birth to. Actually most of my friends are much younger than me though I rag them horribly if the are ever daft enough to whine to me how "They are getting to old for xyz." when I'm still going strong, I am also called on occasionally to hand out sage wisdom. Strange combination.
yep can relate.
I talk to anyone but haven't got many real friends but they vary a lot in age. the thing is I've lived in my small town for all but 3 of my nearly 57 years and haven't got any friends my age from school.
I haven't seen anyone I went to school with since I left in 1975, had nothing in common with them then, doubt I would now.
no in the same slung into school with a load of strangers expected to get on with. I hated school and some of the subjects like RE and French and still do, hated a lot of the others because I was dyslexic and not stupid but was treated like ai was going to be a factory labourer rather than possibly achieve something and got bullied because I didn't fit in. fuck that, there was a school reunion last year and I didn't go to that either.
I find that one of the advantages of getting older is being able to spend time with young women, without any tensions or intensions.
I was about to ask some follow up questions until I read that last phrase. But I know what you mean, my students always say how much they hate me if they have seen me out with some young girls. They would know that I am more the father figure, I am just lucky to have attractive company.
@Rugglesby yep I think my 2 daughters will ask for ID any woman with me and she better be born prior to the 1960's... one swing a mean bat and the other is a great cheerleader and instigator.
