YEA! Totally agree. Congress and Trumpty Dumpty should do something human with gun laws.
Well, yeah, but the God people would say that we all have free will to choose to kill people, or not.
Hmmmm. Since I don't have an argument against that. I guess I have to say, good point. I'm thinking though......
Ok got it. If a person asked why God didn't stop the shootings, and also said people have free will, then that would be a contradiction. If they pray to end the killings, that would be a good excuse to not do anything constructive about it. I would argue that even offering thoughts and prayers, after a shooting, is just a way to try and make themselves feel better, soften the blow of it....and easier to not do shit about it and stay in denial of the fact this country has by far the most mass shootings and by far the most guns. What a coincidence.
@AxeElf I can literally discuss this subject until the sacrificial lambs come home. I have a special interest in the wheat-chaff/refiner's fire model. You may actually have the science of this on your side -- a few years ago (don't ask me for a cite) research was coming out that for every action we take, we started taking it BEFORE we thought about it consciously. But from a Torah point of view, the exceptions prove the rule. God had to stop Pharaoh from using his free will to cut a deal with the Israelites. God had to give people living close to Shechem amnesia to keep them from validly punishing Jacob's family for their horrible crime. Your turn. I won't respond to the omniscience argument, and I likely won't respond to a NT argument.
