I've been at it in two shifts thus far and still have not finished. I'm enjoying the hell out of this read, though: it's my wheelhouse for sure. Thus far it seems to tally with my understanding of Buddhist practice of mindfulness.

Excellent read. This is complete conjecture, but I wonder if the Taoist concept of wu-wei doesn't tie into this somehow...in that perhaps we would benefit from placing a greater focus on the autopilot mechanism and ways to encourage a lesser need for triggering the conscious? From a purely homeostatic standpoint it would appear beneficial anyway.
