No surprise here. As gitface O'Reilly would say, it's those secular progressives again.
Good to see Fascist remains unclaimed.
Communist too
This poll is quite odd in its omission of the political center. I'm guessing that Mangoes intended either "Social Democrat" or "Libertarian/Classical Liberal" to be the main stream within the Democratic Party, but neither term fills the bill. Historically, the term "Social Democrat" was the term preferred by socialists in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Germany, and Austria. The same persuasion was called "Socialist" in France, Spain, Italy, England, and the US. The OP is correct that 18th and 19th-century "Classical Liberal" is closest to "Libertarian," but where is the "Moderate Liberal" or "20th-century Liberal" position on this spectrum?
I'd probably vote "Social Democrat" anyway, but the poll as constructed doesn't make sense. How would a Clinton moderate be expected to vote here?
Clinton is more right wing than you think, but I don't want to get into that argument.
Well, that's partly my point, actually. Were you thinking that folks who supported Clinton wholeheartedly would check the "Conservative" button? That would be news to the Republicans, but it reminds me of a joke I learned in Germany in the Reagan era: "In America there are two political parties, Right and Far Right." Your rejoinder seems to underscore my point that there's a hole in your spectrum here, unless you really expected Clintonites to check "Conservative."
Now that I think about, I should have included Neoliberal.
Studies show that the happiest people in the world, aren't at Disneyland, but live in Social Democratic countries, like Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Sweden...
Yes, they do pay higher taxes, but strangely after they pay the taxes and pay the basic costs of living, they still have a lot more discretionary money left over, than the average person living in the U.S. I guess when healthcare and a college education are considered rights, it makes for happier people.
I feel my ways of seeing and being in this world are leaning more towards the libertarian side. I am pro choice, pro gun, anti establishment, anti social, pro freedom of thought and being equal for both sides.
I find myself somewhere between a social democrat and a classical liberal of the FA Hayek school of economic ideology, but lean closer to being a social democrat.
The survey is too limited. Too many of each category can be extremists. I consider my leanings based on reason and experienced based. I believe in critical thinking and feel strongly that applies to groups as well as individuals. We must question our political leanings all the time and often the easy and self-affirming way is wrong. If I feel good about doing something, I find that is the time to question it most.
I understand, but this is as detailed as I can make this poll. I'm not a political science guy, I'm more of a STEM guy.
I figured there would be more commies
I'm not surprised. As predicted by Jean Jacques Revel in his book
I am not surprised. As predicted in his book, WITHOUT MARX OR JESUS, Jean Jacques Revel wrote in 1972 that people are finally showing some wisdom and realizing that all total system ideologies ( ones which purport to include and explain everything, are deeply flawed and that we do not need them!
One of my grandfathers was actually a communist. Can't say the same for myself, even though I used to call myself a socialist. Independent would be the most accurate description nowadays.
So it's a blank vote for me!
New age commie eh?
Nope. I do not share communist views, it's 2017.
