For goodness sake. These conservative white guys want to blame everyone for thier failures. First blame the immigrants then blame the women.
Dude.. nobody wants you because you’re a jerk!

Funny, but most of the men I know who have spouses that make more money are happy about that...it relieves them of the pressure of keeping the family financially viable...rich or poor, the effort to keep the family together is a joint effort...

I would argue that the issue is not about money but about men who have not truly accepted that women have an equal place in the world...sounds like Tucker wants to go back to the old barefoot and pregnant view of women...

@jorj What he didn't take into account was that many times women marry young when both are just starting out in careers...maybe the woman took extra classes and rose up the ladder faster while they were married...I think it is arrogant to say that women would discount a man who made less money...I certainly don't...the money is just one small factor...I make enough money and would pick a man of substance no matter what he made...obviously, a lot of those men are not men of substance: translation: intelligent, educated, open-minded, kind

@jorj Turn the tables around...would you not marry a woman if she made more money than you? He is dissing you and men like you when he says that...he is saying that women would only be thinking of you as a paycheck...that is not true...you are probably more than that...or not?

@jorj Using money as the single factor in marrying down is not proof of anything except using whatever data to support your desired outcome...there are a lot of reasons women delay marriage that have nothing to do with money...it has to do with independence, freedom, personal job satisfaction...this is scary to people, especially men.

There is not just one needle here...you just have been listening to one side of the story...I am here to tell you that many like me disprove his studies and can provide just as many studies ...

@jorj Maybe in your limited world...sad...

Many men would be happy to stay at home with their children...and women willing to make the money should be a good thing, not a bad one...

@jorj Do you have a link to the studies Tucker used? I would guess that the stats are the same numbers, just interpreted differently to fit an agenda...I am just saying that using one thing, hypergamy, is irresponsible and inconclusive...

@jorj I apologize...I meant no disrespect...I was simply remarking that you seem only by age and your own profile to have less experience and exposure than some...Don't get defensive...I did not attack you, just observed...and, yes, I don't have the studies at my fingertips, but as my profile stated, I would be happy to research and provide assuming you would do the same

@jorj You do know that the link you provided is a biological study done in 2003 on the reproductive study of mating and has nothing to do with earnings?

@jorj Marrying up is not a negative thing for either sex. The link you provided shows that although that is a trend as women are getting better educated, men still make more money in most cases as the gender wage gap is still alive and well.

Why would a man be upset about more education of someone he loves?

@jorj Look...it is obvious to me that you are not open to alternative views and being right is more important to you, so I am going to bow out of this discussion...I appreciate your point of view but don't want to waste any more of your time or mine in a fruitless discussion. Have a good weekend...

@jorj yeah, like Melania marrying tRUMP...she married for money, obviously...lol

@jorj could it be that higher education means that they just won't put up with shit from men? That they have more power and freedom? Women have more choices now in marriage and having children because they are fast earning enough money to support themselves...I think this is the fear that is being exploited and sold to men...

@jorj Again, I know our experiences are very different and I respect that...I think it depends a lot on so many factors, such as education, location, etc. My two nieces are raising their girls to be independent and not rely on anybody to meet their financial or family needs...hopefully, they will grow up to meet mates that have the same values. The husband of one of my nieces is basically a stay at home dad as she makes a lot more money than he does...it works for them...they are younger than you...times are changing and the roles are being more equalized in urbanized places than in rural.

I am surprised that even as a child of the 1950's, my father and mother raised me the same way and I am married to a musician, who obviously makes a lot less money than I do...I would guess that most of the women in my circle also make more than their spouses and have raised our children to be independent and marry the same way...

@jorj
on a positive note, it could be good for men...the pressure to be more equal instead of dying of a hear attack working at a shit job to provide could be gained...I don't think the bleak picture Carlson paints is what is happening

@jorj I married my first husband on passion. His own brother said he "married up" during his groomsman speech. His parents hugged me when he got his Associates degree and cried when he got his undegrad degree. They gave me the credit on those. He eventually caught me salary wise even though I still out-degree him. My point being- don't underestimate hormones.

@jorj No. I was taught to provide for myself. Probably the greatest gift my dad could have given me.

@UrsiMajor Our dads would have gotten along... my dad made sure I knew I could be and do whatever I wanted...so I did! 😉

@jorj We have young men in our family who have discussed these types of issues...they are confusing times for them. They don't want to offend a women by not seeming interested in them but then they worry if they will be considered sexist if they try even the littlest flirtation...I get it. We are all going through a phase of not knowing what to say or do and it is creating anger, fear, hatred.

White men of all ages have expressed that they now feel like the minority class...but in reality, they are not...you are still the biggest and most powerful and wealthiest group in our country. Just because other groups are now standing up and not taking it does not mean you don't count...we are recognizing that but our attention is to those who truly have been discriminated against for years.

What you are feeling is just an iota of what men of color have felt, so it is hard to feel bad for you...as a woman, it is hard to feel bad for any man and as a woman of color, the feeling is even more of a "don't give a fuck what you feel"...

These are growing pains as we try to maneuver through all of these new "rules"...it will settle down and hopefully, this group thing goes away so we can all be the same group...

People like Tucker Carlson and Morning Joe both have jobs to keep this divide going. They have a huge stake in keeping their followers hating each other and using stats to their advantage. When people talk one on one to each other, keeping all the media crap out and listening to what they know is right in their hearts, we can see each others; stories and appreciate that we are all the same at a core level.

Thanks for your heartfelt conversation...you have added to my understanding of people different than me.

@jorj White men do matter...but they are not the priority because they are not the ones being singled out for their skin color and killed for that reason or discriminated against. Do you get up in the morning worrying if you are going to stand out and be hated for your color? You might read articles or see things, but no one in real life as you walk out the door to go to work is going to clutch their handbag or walk to the opposite side of the street...no one is going to yell out a nasty word because you are just walking your dog...

You are more than equal...white men get the jobs before women, before people of color...step into the shoes of those people and see what they have seen...you are feeling what they have felt for a very long time and you don't like it, but you are still going to be alright.

Yes, we all need to check our own bias and stop assuming and using the implied "all"...in real life, face to face, people would be more civil and are...

If I were super rich, I would allow each person to meet those they fear face to face...when you expand your world, it shrinks the differences.

@jorj You are correct....and I totally agree that we all need to let our representatives know the places we agree upon..I bet they are not so different...have a great weekend!

The scary part about this? The idjots who believe this crap. Blame women for every damn thing that goes wrong in your sorry ass life. Need and eye roll emoji. SMH

4

So - once again - every human failing can be blamed upon some woman. Wow. If you mama didn't do a good enough job of screwing you up - hang on, your girlfriend (wife) will finish the job? Really??????

3

I need to find my duck tape, then I'll find fucker I mean tucker whatever

2

Classic Carlsonism; nonsense with sizzle to appeal to his special audience.

4

How does this idiot still have his job? Oh that's right.....there are a lot of other idiots who agree with him.

Whatever fucked up thing men do, it’s always womens’ fault ?

Not directly.

I'm surprised he was calm about it as now in about 35% of marriages women outearn their husbands. And the percentage is going up. There is also a really strong correlation between the amount a woman earns and the probability of divorce. However, that probability may be an indication that high earning women are not forced to stay in a terrible marriage -- although correlation only describes a relationship and does not explain it.

Also, IF the husbands of women who make more money turn to drugs and crime, what does that say about the basic character of men??? If they are that weak (which I don't believe), why would any woman want to marry or stay married to such a man?

1

How can we thank them?

1

If a man needs drugs and criminality to cope with successful independant women, lock him up! There's plenty of drugs in the slammer.

3

I can't believe that anyone could make that argument with a straight face, oh wait, it's Fox Noose. That explains everything.

This must be why MSNBC is beating Fox in ratings for the first time in 17 years.

If you can't hold up your head, what's gonna raise your dick?

Maybe booze for one and Viagra for the other.

No worries put it on my tab.

Problem solved!
