Go to an atheist gathering in Chattanooga and vent all you want. Baby atheist!
Can you see the meme posted?
Yes, I did. I just wanted to get something off my chest. Sorry for not following the rules. It upsets me when people do that to me too. I need do better.
"If you don't have anything good to say about religion..." what then?
I'm still hoping that we could bash religion violently without profanity. We're all decent guys in here in this community . . . and we also happen to be very intelligent.
Oh, my apologies, mistymoon77, I forgot to state my REAL reason in replying to your post which is, "OH, YES, BY ALL MEANS, WHY NOT!!!!"
So you can see the attachment that goes with this post? Its says... if you don't have anything good to say about religion, then let's be friends.
@mistymoon77: yes, and I saw it rather late as evidence by my quick follow up. Maybe the Admin could do something about the size of the attachment window. And also how to easily access past messages just like the email SENT box because I can't remember if I've sent you a sort of "Welcome Note" when you joined in.
@Admin: Could you please make the window big enough to show the entire page of an attachment?
And could you also teach me how to easily access my past messages just like looking at the SENT items of an email. Thanks
then say something funny about it
Looks like friends we be.
Confused you are not? hhhmmmmmm . . .
Those of us who are more enlightened have soooooo grown out of religion. I'd definitely be friends with anyone who is an atheist. At least I know they are dealing with reality even if we disagree about plenty of other stuff.
I won't turn my back on the religious even if I do have a lot to say against them for the simple pathetic reason, no matter how stupid, idiotic and moronic I'd be - that I want to enlighten them.
I thought you were going to go all Bambi on my arse, but no, you've given me a pleasant surprise. Yeah, I have literally nothing good to say about religion.
Even the religious only have good things to say about it if they can pick the parts they like that sound good.
That's true bro . . . and that also holds true to any and all organizations of whatever make and purpose.
Not all other organizations have an old book they claim to be the infallible truth that they pick and choose from.
The only positive thing I think religion offers, is sense of community and belonging. We evolved as social animals, and seek out the company of others. This was at once time for survival purposes. Today, in urban and suburban areas where propel hardly know their neighbors, although we re in large crowded areas, many people still feel alone.
Social Scientists have determined humans feel a sense of belonging in groups of up to about 200 people, which was also about the size of most tribal communities. Beyond 200 peopel ano9nymity starts to creep in and people get less comfortable, and also above those numbers common beliefs are not enough to induce or be as influential in conformity.
Most congregations are about 200-300 persons. The larger the congrregation, the more likely they are to just pay lip services to their professed beliefs.
So smaller congregations are more likely to actually follow the teachings of their religion, assuming they are not burdened with too much dogma. It should be noted that fanatics, ae overly burdened with too much dogma which they have taken to heart, which causes them to act irrationally and often dangerously.
So, unless there is too much dogma, small congregations and churches are generally not really that bad. They provide that sense of community and belonging which is innately needed by most people.
The KKK has a sense of community, but what is their agenda. I say let's have a sense of community doing a beach cleanup, an animal rescue event, an atheist meetup, or a community garden.
I bow my forehead. Amen.
@daddy4pugs: I couldn't find the KKK in all of the lists of religious organizations in America. Could you help me out in this, I mean, do you have or do you know of an official government list of religious orgs wherein the KKK is included?
And, oh, well, they do have religious dogma, they hate the Jews and Catholics even though they use the symbol of the cross. But then, if they believe that they are a religious org, he-he, we just let them be . . . wanna cross paths with them?
I am saving that meme. That is my type of person, one who accepts the reality of the horrific nature of religion. Those who want to cling to a little old granny who goes to church and states that some people who are believers are good people, would not say that about other organizations which violate human rights. Only the Orange Nazi Trump would say "Some are fine people."
So now that we're friends what time is dinner and would you prefer I bring red or white wine or both?
Sweet red or both...
