There's no question that fundamentalism is by far the most harmful form of religion, but it's also the least sustainable as it requires an ignorant and fearful population, and in the modern world people are increasingly educated and skeptical and free to think what they want. Because of this, it's my view that fundamentalism is doomed, not the world.
That is not to say that we might not have some dystopian spasms during its downfall, but I give it a century max before it's consigned permanently to the lunatic fringe. It's already losing its grip on temporal power here in the US; that's why they're so desperate and panicky.
