Great history lesson! I think they are very pretty. I guess that old saying my mother used to say all the time, "everything old will be new again someday" is so true.

I have a Breton friend who slept in one of these when she stayed at her grandfather's farm in the 1960s - they were very old-fashioned by then and virtually unknown in towns, but in rural areas where people only replaced things that were too work-out or broken to be repaired rather than simply because they were out of fashion they could still be found then. I've always wanted one!
