Just finished a great sci-fi mystery/thriller. If you liked "The Hot Zone", "Andromeda Strain", "Outbreak", A. G. Riddle takes us there and beyond into the nuances of evolution and secrets of the universe itself. I recommend these two (a 2 part series) highly.

Agreed, on both points.
Back in the day, I was so drawn to "Andromeda Strain" that it influenced my decision to become a microbiologist.
