Excellent news!
"The court noted it was joining several other federal courts that have recently struck down partisan gerrymanders as unconstitutional.
"Federal panels in Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Maryland have all blocked electoral districts on grounds that they too severely favored one party over another."
Good news for now, but wait and see what the Supreme Court does on similar cases. The current Court seems so inclined to rule that legislatures can do what they want without judicial oversight (on issues favoring conservative causes, at least) that they may well overturn the lower courts and say that it's up to the voters to pass initiatives like the one in Michigan (I voted for it, by the way... I'm hoping against all odds to get tapped for the redistricting panel ).
