And my friends say I'm crazy not to use Siri (or whatever). I won't even let my laptop record my voice.
On my computer, I put a piece of blue painter's tape over the camera lens.
That's why I like last-generation technology; I don't have a camera.
It's the microphones you have to watch out for too. There was a photo of Mark Zuckerberg next to his computer. He had a plug stuck on his computer mic. Same with our phones. They pick up everything.
I had a Google Home device for a few months. One day I got a really eerie feeling all of a sudden about it listening to me. So, in the quietest whisper possible, 15 feet away, I said "Hey Google (which is what prompts it), what's the weather today?" And it answered me. It's been back in its box since then.
Guess it all depends. I live alone and never entertain guests and pretty much a solitary individual except when a family member comes over for the holidays. If it wants to hear my conversations with the cat, go for it. I use it to control smart lights, play music, news, timers, and that's about it.
Just a hunch, but forced blood samples are right around the corner.
Why would Amazon want my blood? My money, yes, but blood? (I can't even donate my blood, I was overseas during the Mad Cow thing...)
