LINK 'I'm gay': Mormon Republican lawmaker in Utah comes out

Doubtful he will be able to get relected in Utah after coming out.

Of course the Mormon church just reclassified gays, so they are no longer considered apostates, so he won't be excommunicated.

Anyone else notice how the mormons change their rules as laws change: no bigamy, statehood; blacks are equal and Carter administration doesn't revoke tax free status (that took a while); and now gays, which I'm sort of surprised at, but, hey, 10% tithing still.

Yeah, having grown up in the Mormon church, I know. The "new revelations" are always a few steps behind social progress, meaning society changes and then with great reluctance, according to the Mormon church, god changes his mind. But, yeah, I am sure that the 10% tithe often influences what "god" thinks.
