OTOH (on the one hand) this breaks my heart. On the other hand.... this is a failing of our educational system and a fruition of the uniqueness of America that religious BS has been allowed and encouraged to flourish since the beginning.

Absolutely true! Allof the televangenists, purveyors of the prosperity gospel, and demagogues of he mega churches are incessantly preying on devoutly gullible people. If the Christian doctrine were true, they would be bound for hell.
