I found this web site and had to share the link because the lists are so funny. As an example, here are the dumb laws listed for Memphis TN:
It is illegal for a woman to drive a car unless there is a man either running or walking in front of it waving a red flag to warn approaching motorists and pedestrians.
It’s illegal for frogs to croak after 11 PM.
Panhandlers must first obtain a $10 permit before begging on the streets of downtown Memphis.
Florida Laws:
Check out the dumb laws for your state or city, and feel free to post your favorites in the comments. There is also a link in the upper left for dumb laws in other countries, so if you don't live in the US, maybe your country is in that list.
UK Laws:
Well North America has some pretty silly laws still enforced to this day. Look at the Indian Act in Canada. Natives Americans are the only people in the world that have to prove their authenticity and they must carry that prove with them at all times. Plus these cards have expiry dates. So if that card expired their no longer a native person. Imagine having to carry a card that proves your white, or black or Asia. If they married outside their race their children are classified under Bill C 31 and if their children children marry outside their race. By law would no long be considered Native. Oh that Indian act is really something to read if you want a better view of the injustice toward our fellow man.
As far as the UK laws the first one makes perfect sense, but why can't you shoot a Scotsman on Sunday with a bow and arrow?
I think the topless one meant they could be in a swimsuit not exactly topless.
We had lots of archaic laws such as its illegal to leave your parish on sundays and taxis must have a bale of hay in the boot.
It was always the law that people had to go to church on sundays but that has always been ignored.
The average person commits 3 felonies a day because the laws are intentionally vague, written to apply to basically any situation.
-If you look over someones shoulder while they are on social media, that is technically identity theft.
-Any speeding on a three lane highway is a federal misdemeanor.
-Connecting to unsecured public WiFi without explicit permission.
-Not reading the EULA on literally everything you buy and service you use.
-Clearing your browser history or disposing of old records.
-Being naked, even in your own home or on your own property.
-Having an unregistered dog or failing to maintain a pet owners license.
-knocking on someone's door and not waiting until they answer.
-openly carrying a permanent marker or spray paint in public.
-sharing a password or logging into an account that doesn't belong to you.
uh-oh...
ha ha ha In PA, you are supposed to stop and cover your car with a blanket if you see a horse and buggy approaching so as not to scare the horse...and you can't sing in the bath tub...shower is ok, but not while in a tub...ha ha ha
