As the possibilities for war increases, jingoism increases, plus nationalism, and, as a result of Washington no longer even pretending to give a damn about international laws and norms, other nations start down the same road, they know they can get away with it, because the USA is getting away with it. This is why you have heard very little about what is going on in China . . . .
This sad direction that the world is headed was also influenced by those who promoted terrorism. It gave the USA, Israel and other nations the motivation to take whatever measures they deemed necessary to destroy terrorism. This is where you see the huge difference between methods, whereas in South Africa, a peaceful movement brought about the destruction of apartheid, at least to a considerable degree, while terrorism resulted in a strengthening of the jingoist, nationalist forces.
What China is doing is likely what it thinks is necessary to protect itself from what it sees as an Islamist invasion, and, by association, to protect itself from terrorism. But you cannot point at the Chinese, and say that they, by themselves, are wrong, because if people become terrorists, thinking mistakenly that somehow that will further their cause, they really only are creating a force that must be reckoned with, and that force creates its own counter-force . . . . fascism, jingoism, nationalism.

The dangers here are twofold at least. First, you have the constant clash of cultures, as is happening in Israel, with no end in sight. Second, you have the nationalism and culture-centrism, which is even more dangerous, it leads to people believing that they are the superior race, and other evils that lead to war, and war is something that people should understand as being the biggest threat to human existence. They don't. The unfortunate thing is, that the herd mentality seems to always fall on the side of the nationalists, culture-centered racists, fascists . . . . this is why we had two world wars, and are well on our way to the third one.
