the research that went into the bomb brought us nuclear power and most importantly the end of world wars. . there is no way the little boys with big toys can go down the road of ww1 or 2. too much to lose. my candidate for worst invention; the written word ,coz that's wot handed the balance of power to the males. apparently the advent of the computor will hand it back to the females eventually !

I think it might be the worst invention that was actually used... There are biological weapons which have been developed that have not been used, but are capable of killing many more people.

Atomic bombs do rank up there pretty high though.

Certainly the hydrogen bomb is far worse, especially since it uses an atomic explosion in order to create the heat and pressue necessary for the fusion reaction.
