This definition tells me nothing. The spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal.
If it's Immaterial why are so many worried about their Immortal Soul?
The soul is simply the ancients explaination for ths mind. It was not like a foot or hand that could be touched or seen, so they thought it must exist seperate crom the body. This being said it was easy to guess that it may not die like the body as it did not seem to be physically attached.
Thus the mind or concious thought became the " spirit or soul."
It is realy that simple.
Are you serious? That definition is quite good. Yes, but why worry about having an immortal soul? Why do you go to New Zealand, because it is a wonderful experience. You have wonderful memories of living in two parts of this world. That's what an immortal soul is for, to never forget mortal life experiences. GROG
Depends upon the tradition and interpretations you consider. Look up its etymology to get a look at the English interpretation. Look into the Catholic doctrine, then Martin Luther and then indigenous religions to see what their take on the equivalent is.
Plato is always a good distraction as well.
Then if you re not confused you may get some idea!
my take on it is that there is no such thing as a soul. i do, however, like soul music. actually not many people on this site are worried about an immortal (or other type of) soul. why are you asking nonbelievers what the soul is? wouldn't you get a clearer explanation from those who believe in such a thing?

The soul is the lever by which human consciousness may be bent into shape.
A con invented by religion to frighten you in to paying up in this life to avert eternal torture in the next.
Nothing more.
