the understanding that there is no undontional love in the world . that its all in th emind and one can escape from any ugliness if you think it away

As a soldier I was continously put in situations where I had to come to terms with my own mortality and accept my impending death; which is a terrifying thought in that moment.

I never died.

That life is transient and fragile. Life is not fair and justice is not always forthcoming.

We love and we hurt. They are part of the same deal. Enjoy them while you can. Find your meaning to life and achieve contentment.

Contentment is a very under rated thing when you are young but you sure come around to it eventually!!?

Haha. Young things can suffer from Angry Young Man syndrome. Perhaps the Buddhist focus on mindfulness and search for inner peace is a way of trying to achieve contentment (in the face of a universe of imperfection?).
