I remember when I was diagnosed with leukemia (I have since recovered), thoughts of god never entered my mind. I was more concerned with... "If I survive this, how will I ever pay for it?"
It's the usual crap of atheist aren't really atheists when it comes to their death. The same idea has been and still is spread about there being no Atheists in Foxholes. [militaryatheists.org]
It’s said that there are no atheists in foxholes
And that soldiers all pray not to die
But they don’t really believe that lie
That prayer alone will keep them from perdition.
Why else would they all cry,
“Praise the Lord, but pass the ammunition.”
