First Americans elected George W. Bush (technically the supreme court ruled him as the victor the first time), then American re-elected him. Then Americans elected Trump. I have come to not want to ever underestimate the level of American stupidity.
I agree that just because people voted for him one, not knowing any better, does not mean they would vote for him again now, after they have seen him in action. But a surprisingly large number of Americans are just plain stupid. You just cant' predict what stupid will do.
