AZTEC KINGS HAD RULES FOR PLAGUES, INCLUDING ‘DO NOT BE A FOOL’
Shows past civilizations were often wiser than present ones. Imagine (please don't ) if tRump was around then. That culture would have long since died out.
No one uses the plague word now, for contemporary events. Are we becoming over sensitive, or do we in our pride, think that we are too superior to the peoples of the past to share an experience with them.
I think it's because we are able to be more specific now because we have more information. We know that this particular disease is called COVID so we call it that whereas people in the past would be less able to understadn and label diseases so they used a general term, plague. Also, we have the words epidemic and pandemic now so it just makes less sense to refer to it as plague. I still do though, it's a good word.
