I'm not a language expert, but language is important to me. I find these videos by Tom Scott to be excellent.

My sister, for a time, taught English as a foreign language. Her students were often perplexed by the words that run together (though I'm sure the same happens in any language.)
One word that they had particular trouble with was "umena". It took her some time to explain that "umena" was actually "I'm going to".
Aren't all languages 'evolved' ? Often (too often) with not much rationality for outcomes.
I am an advocate of a designed/constructed language like Esperanto (others).
