My mother used to tell me all the time “god is slow but sure!”

Her way of stating what Karma can produce!!!

She lived to 76 years of age, she suffered from acute memory loss for the lass twenty or so years of her life!!!

I guess she was right after all!!!

One superstition is if you go to church on Sunday, when you die, fade to black.

Never say anything out loud that you don’t want to happen or you’ll jinx it into happening. The old Jewish ladies in my neighborhood would yell at someone for speaking such things out loud. Saying the word cancer, to name a particularly egregious example, would elicit a “kenahurah!* a Yiddish word meaning “keep the evil spirits away”.

My mother was terrified of crossing the path of a black cat, walking under ladders and separating to go around a post. I was always a mean child and always made fun of her and tried my best to show her it was silly.

If you right palm itches, you’ll be receiving plenty of money soon. (Something like that)
