Coronavirus: Fujitsu announces permanent work-from-home plan
My son in law used to be the CEO of an international IT magazine that had employees in the USA, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, India, and half a dozen countries in Europe. He worked from home, in Sussex, England.
The only problem was the huge time differences, meaning that he had to organise zoom conferences with differing segments, sometimes early in the morning, sometimes late at night. Three times a year everyone flew to a group meeting of the entire staff.
To answer your question, yes it can be done. I have worked for clients that have been 6,000 and 10,000 miles away.
