From a Christian speaking about how Christianity was foundational in systemic racism in America.
"As monuments to white supremacy are falling all across America, a great cloud of witnesses is gathering. Our fellow African American citizens, and indeed the entire country, are waiting to see whether we white Christians can finally find the humility and courage and love to face the truth about our long relationship with white supremacy and to dismantle the Christian worldview we built to justify it."
Primarily it's about money Von. White Christians can and will rationalize anything in order to protect their 'property.' They've had it better for the most part than everyone else, and many have rationalized that fact as evidence of their God's reward to them. The question is: can white Christians leave their most cherished projections and denial behind ? I'm thinking maybe in a thousand years or so.
Christianity grew up with the European expansion and the racism that accompanied that expansionist paradigm. The Imperialism and colonial expansion was steeped in racism from its inception. Our white Christian hegemony is based on white privilege over other non-white cultures. Like European colonialism around the world, the belief system inherent Chritianity is based on conquest of cultures, assimilation of those same cultures, and the creation of second class citizens to serve the Colonizers, but never equal to them.
