CeCe Peniston
Blair Underwood
Chaka Khan
Sugar Ray Leonard
Prince
Waylon Jennings
Muhammad Ali
Amy Irving
Hubert Humphrey
Hank Williams Jr
I'm going to stick my neck out and try Ali again.
@LovinLarge I met Ali when I worked at the Courier Journal/Louisville Times in Louisville, Ky.
@Sticks48 That makes sense, being his birthplace. Must he Hubert Humphrey?
@LovinLarge Met him in the same place.
@Sticks48 You are not making this easy! Hank Williams Jr.?
@LovinLarge Yep!
@Sticks48 Very lucky, thank you!
@LovinLarge Everyone is just guessing.
Tom hanks
Pavarotti
Rod Stewart
David sedaris
Ellen
Surely Rod Stewart?
@LovinLarge no !
@Pralina1 Lucky you! I gave heard very juicy things about him. Gotta be Tom Hanks then?
@LovinLarge I have never met Ellen . Rest became family friends and visitors at r house in Greece . David I ve met in USA , not close friend , but in touch.
@Pralina1 Very interesting, thank you.
Charo
Lisa Bonet
Juliet Landau
Bill Kreutzmann
Kris Kristofferson
Bill Kruetzmann
Very tough one. Guessing Kris Kristofferson.
@LovinLarge Love Kristofferson.
@Lorajay Nope! Bill Kreutzmann and his wife Amy have a home here on Kauai and I performed their intimate marriage ceremony at their ranch house.
Part of the ceremony was me reading a poem that he had written. We sat on the couch together after they signed their marriage license, talked story for a little bit and then Bill wrote me out a check for my services, and added a tip for the quick service!
They later had a bigger wedding celebration, which I didn't perform. In any case, I get to say that I "married" the drummer for the Grateful Dead!
@Lorajay, @LovinLarge @freeofgod Yes, it's Kris Kristofferson that I've never met, but wish I would have. I've been a big fan of his songwriting for 50 years! He has a home on Maui, and I sure wished I'd have run in to him when I spent a week in Hana, but nope!
I was visiting the Queen Mary in 86. The gangplank was stopped and as I looked down four stories, I could see dirty water and jellyfish. Once I got to the bottom of the gangplank there stood Hugh O'brien. I looked at him and said, "get the fuck away from the bottom of the plank"!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I didn't get a autograph.........
Jesus Christ
Moses
His Donkey
Four wise men
Five stupid men
I guess would have to be four Wisemen
You: Gary Hart
Me:
Billy Crystal
Liza Minnelli
Butterfly McQueen
Woody Allen
Susan Sarandon
Please, please, please let it be Woody Allen!
@LovinLarge I was in Paris in 1974, went to the Louvre, and there was Woody Allen with Diane Keaton. I told him his car was being towed (a line from one of his films). He just glared at me.
@Bobbyzen At least being at the Louvre would take a bit of the sting out of experiencing Woody Allen.
Gonna have to go with Liza then.
I met Gary Hart at a National Women's Political Caucus Convention in San Antonio. We were both walking alone down a corridor while everyone else wias in a meeting and all I did was shake his hand. He gave me a hug and I was shocked at how skinny he was.
My next guess for you is Susan Sarandon.
@LovinLarge @Lorajay Liza it is!
-Saw Billy Crystal at a small club early in his career.
-Took a theater class with Butterfly McQueen at City College of New York.
-Ran into Susan Sarandon walking on the street in NYC when I lived there
@Bobbyzen What was Butterfly like?
@LovinLarge She was friendly, down to earth, didn’t have that southern accent she had in GWTW, but her voice was high and squeaky. She was a serous student of acting. This was in 1970.
@Bobbyzen I bet that was a fun time.
@LovinLarge I loved being a theater major, and being in class with Butterfly was a joy. We talked about racism in Hollywood, that her costar Hattie McDaniel had to sit at a table in a corner at the Academy Awards...sad but interesting stories.
Rowen, Martin,Allen Ginsberg, Danny DeVito sting
So you're not adding one that you didn't meet?
Sting seems out of place in that lineup but I have a backup guess if I am wrong.
@LovinLarge you're right actually met the others
@bobwjr You must have some great stories!
@LovinLarge yup especially Ginsburg
@bobwjr That's exactly what I was thinking. I will be watching for them for sure!
@LovinLarge My college professor invited him to speak , after he asked to see Poe grave I took them in my car had a blast
@LovinLarge also introduced family to Kingston trio and Peter Paul and Mary
John Popper
Ron Jeremy
Alex Skolnick
Steve Harris
Did you meet them all??
I'm really, really hoping it's Ron Jeremy because I'm afraid to hear the story about how you met.
@Lorajay No, not all, one I haven't
@Lorajay, @LovinLarge Unfortunately I met Ron Jeremy lol!!! It wasn't that bad and no it wasn't on a porn set. It was at the Rainbow in L.A.
@MichelleGar1 Alex Skolnick?
@LovinLarge Nope, met him after one of his show's
@MichelleGar1 He is fine. Okay, Steve Harris.
@LovinLarge Yes, he is! Never met Steve Harris, been to a lot of his concert's but never been luck enough to have met him, wish I did!
Writer Joan Didion
Poet Alan Ginsberg
Silent & talkie film star Ruth Gordon
Senator Mazie Hirono
Film star Kathleen Quinlan
I'll guess Ginsberg
@Lorajay
Sorry . . . not Ginsberg. I met Ginsberg in the sixties in Santa Monica. He resided near me briefly. We had several short conversations.
My next guess is Joan Didion because if you met her I do want to hear that story.
@Lorajay
Good guess . . . Yes, Joan Didion would tell a formidable tale.
Entertainer Bonnie Langford
Actor Christopher Timothy
Actor Ben Kingsley
Writer and TV Personality Lynn Picknett
Very tough but going with Kingsley.
@LovinLarge Correct he was in a play at an art centre in my hometown in 1978 and fell on my girlfriend in the bar after ward, but we never actually spoke.
@LenHazell53 What about the others?
@LovinLarge Christopher Timothy I met on the set of All creatures great and small, Bonnie and I corresponded for years and have met up a few times, Lynne is a face book friend and we used to belong to the same ex-mormon group which is where we met, she has also given me technical advice on a couple of my scripts an extraordinarily clever woman.
@LenHazell53 Very interesting, thank you.
I guess Ford for you also.
Nope, He came to the Air Force base I was working at and I brought my children to see him because he was president. The crowds were large but I told my 7 and 5 year old to wiggle their way to the front so they could see. My 5 year old daughter was exceptionally small for age and was still wearing size threes. They were standing side-by-side when the president came by and Ford shook my son's hand then skipped 2 or 3 people and shook the next hand. My 5 year old daughter screamed bloody murder and threw herself on the ground. The president stopped and a secret service guy picked her up. I heard the screams and rushed to the front where the president asked me what was the matter with her. I asked her and she sobbed saying James got to shake his hand and all I got to do was clap. The president took her from the Secret service guy and patted her on the back then shook her hand and handed her to me.
@Lorajay I wonder if either of your kids still remember that.
@Lorajay Hastur guessed Elvis for you.
@LovinLarge We tell family stories around the dinner table at holidays and that's one of my favorites.
Nope, he stopped in Oklahoma City for his presidential campaign and our handshake turned into a hand holding to the point that I jerked my hand away. He had my girlfriend by his other hand and we joked about who's hand he held the longest.
Tyler Perry
Taylor Swift
Muhammad Ali
Hilary Clinton
AOC
I guess Ali also.
@Hastur, @LovinLarge i met Ali as a child I didn't actually know who he was at the time..
@Cutiebeauty Then I will guess Hillary.
@LovinLarge you got it!
@Cutiebeauty That was very tough. You've encountered many cool people!
@LovinLarge I've met them at fund raising events... Except for Ali..
I have only had one brush with greatness so here is my list, giving you a 50-50 chance:
Elvis Presley
Colonel Sanders
Colonel Sanders..
@Cutiebeauty Thanks for guessing, you're only off by one! I was about 10, flying in from Calgary to Denver in first class with my family probably for Christmas and there he was. dressed all in white like the pictures used to show him. There were a lot of stairs at the old Denver Airport and as a very large man he had a very hard time. It was obvious who he was but I think I asked him anyway because I remember speaking to him briefly. Thanks for playing!
Cuba Gooding Jr
Wolfgang Puch
John Lennon
Barack Obama
Muhammad Ali
@Hastur Nope. Met John and Yoko 1972. Yoko and me follow each other on Twitter.
I'll guess Wolfgang
@Lorajay Met him twice. He lived in Cherry Hill NJ back is early 70s he used to buy meat at a kosher butcher in a strip mall next to an arcade we used to hang at in Philly. Really nice guy. Worked at Marriott during '02 NBA All-Star game. Rode employee elevator with him and loss prevention and GM. He was in attendance. He had Parkinson's at that time but he still was charming guy. Waited on Cuba Gooding Jr all night. He drank Coors light and played jukebox. This was at a dive box I worked in Old City, he was filming Shadow Boxer. Regular guy. I never met Obama. So the answer is Barack Obama.
