I have purchased the web domain atheistscafe.com. I am looking for an atheist web designer to collaborate with me in its development in the promotion of the atheist community, although that person will be doing the technical work. Ideally it will be someone who wants to remain involved with the project long term. Please contact me if you or someone you know might be a good fit. Thank you.

Uh oh...

I know you're looking for a collaborator/partner, which is not same as hiring, but your phrasing may bring your trouble.

Asking for an "atheist web designer" sounds like hiring someone based on a religious affiliation, which may have legal consequences of religious discrimination.

Got it covered, thanks.

Well I am an atheist I guess, believing in only the possibility of extraterrestrial life. I can see that the domain is hosted on namecheap.com environment. It uses a tool called website builder within the cPanel. Never payed around with that thoug. The biggest questions are: who delivers the content?
What is your goal with this site? And a few more I guess. Did you already logged in once in the cPanel and tried some stuff?

It will be a social networking exclusively for atheists. I have not logged in nor will I. I envision the members delivering the content. not unlike this site. I have a very limited amount of time (and even less technical knowledge) to devote to this project, that's why I need a collaborator.

I've had a couple of unexpected problems arise this morning that will take me a few days to solve and then I can devote some more time to this project.

I used to build websites in days past and I enjoyed it but vision issues I've developed over the last two years has forced me out but I wish you luck with your project.

Thank you. Yes, it would be too much for me, too. This is a job for a younger person who needs a new outlet to be creative and productive. Even if I can't find anyone, I will preserve registration of the domain name so I can pass it along at the right opportunity.

I’m a Luddite when it comes to technology so can offer no help or advice to you, but I do wish you well and will join up with enthusiasm when you get all set up!

Thank you very much, it will be nice for us to have one more venue to congregate which will detract from this one in no way.

Great idea. Well done LovinLarge. Did you manage to find an IT specialist?

I have one local person interested and I will contact her today. I was contacted by others but when I told them the domsin name, I stopped hearing back from them. Same old nonsense.

@LovinLarge Have you tried the reddit atheist community? You might be able to find someone there.

@tsallinia Thank you, I will try that next if my current prospect drops out on me.

Go to wordpress.com to easily get something started.

Thanks but no, every minute of my day is already accounted for. The job will be delegated.

So you have the domain, have you already gotten hosting? Hosting is the big expense.

Sorry I don't know what hosting is. There were some add ons to the purchase but I don't remember what they were. I am not in the position to learn a new skill for the foreseeable future so I'm ready to hand it all over asap.

@LovinLarge That really isn't a problem. It isn't necessary for you to know anything about the tech aspects of a web site in order to have a hand in its content. There are however financial considerations involved that require some basic understanding of how a web site works.

@bingst Yes, that's one of the first aspects my designer will have to educate me on. I have one local prospect that I will contact tomorrow. Thanks.

@LovinLarge You can off set some of the cost at least by taking adverts. You may even show a profit which you can use to extend and improve the site, if you get enough followers.

@Fernapple Thank you, I will likely have to because ultimately it will have to be self-sufficient when I pass it along to whoever.

Excellent idea, good luck with the atheistscafe.com website.

I'm setting up a similar shop across the divide called CupOfCriesTea.com with communion 24/7 (the domain name I fervently desired was taken).

It will have an extensive wine list and humble fare at prices that would humble the multitudes.

The menu will include fish of yesterday to share, lamb ofgood and spatchcock dove.

Token and broken bread will feature IfYou'reNotInHeavenWhereThe Focaccia.

Serving staff will wear flamboyant habiliments, accoutrements and trappings designed by Gaudy.

There will be singing but please eschew dancing (except on Whirling Dervish Wednesdays).

A not for prophets pyknic is on the Sunday subsequent to the first full moon following the vernal equinox.

Singing In The Reign second coming Saturday in September is dress up (don't forget to byo the consecrated water pistols).

Check out the specials on the sapid and rapid quick bitesin board.

Donations at the door together forever with concomitant money changing, final wills and testaments.

Sometimes I don't even know why I try when there are people as creative as you that I know I will never be able to compete with. Hilarious.

Oh very well then, I'll set up a laundromat instead next door to atheistscafe.com and send them to you to get their money changed, hang out, tell parables and take the water and all manner of comestibles, so that all may behold that cleanliness is next to godlessness.

Imaginary beings move in mysterious ways LovinLarge.

Just change "will include" to "will not include" in the menu items for the cafe.

Don't forget some decaf for diffident atheists.

I would volunteer, but that sounds too much like work. I'm retired now.

Thank you, I also think it will be a big job especially because I know zip about web design. I figure either the right person will come along or they won't. All I can do is try. If I am going to proceed, it probably has to be soon. I have an ad on Craig's List for a non-religious web designer and I am shocked at how many respondents don't understand what that means.

Congratulations. Keep us posted
