Price has always mattered over quality no matters who says it and where they say it worldwide. It has to be a dictatorship to not even allow foreign goods. Both parties do it because they must operate a lean and efficient machine to win. We all are buying Chinese good in Walmart every day - Democrats and Republicans alike.

@St-Sinner It would not be easy for me to come-up with 'norms/culture' that I actively endorse. Reason is my aspirational metric -- no shortage of nonsense.
