Last night I saw the season premiere of an interesting new series on AMC called Soulmates. It's an anthology series along the line of Black Mirror that has six episodes about different people in a world years from now where there is now a totally accurate test for compatibility called The Test by a company called Connex that is the definitve matchmaking service. The test uses DNA to determine who your soulmate is. Some interesting ideas in the series as far as the tradeoffs of ambition towards being with your so-called perfect mate vs. the intimacy of a relationship with someone you've gotten to know over many years, as well as the trend toward disposable relationships and selfishness when someone that's married decides to take the test and then abandon their current partner. I'm just very curious to find out how many other people here have watched this and what their reactions are.

So called science giving people a new reason to break vows made at weddings

Well, that was one point made in the first episode, that The Test seemed to be giving people a scientific reason to no longer feel a moral obligation to keep their vows, but I personally saw that as a selfish cop-out.

I always was drawn to women I thought were hot. If there's sexual compatibility, people learn to get along. Soulmate? I don't believe in a soul anyway.
