I read Dr. Seuss books to Claire, too. Read to her at bedtime every night, followed by singing.
To put Claire to sleep, I sang "Silent Night" softer and softer. Slower and slower. Nearly put me to sleep, too.
@LiterateHiker My daughter learned to read with the Hat Book by Seuss....at first I thought that she had only memorized the words, until she would point to one of them in another book and read it. She wasn't even 3. Now she's a lawyer and still wordy.
