Political ideologies
An ideology is a collection of ideas. Typically, each ideology contains certain ideas on what it considers to be the best form of government (e.g. autocracy or democracy) and the best economic system (e.g. capitalism or socialism).
These are the ISM's each as been an evolutionary process, some have been around for thousands of years, some only a few centuries. The same word is sometimes used to identify both an ideology and one of its main ideas. For instance, socialism may refer to an economic system, or it may refer to an ideology which supports that economic system.
I would suggest that it is time for Humanism and its next manifesto to join the humanist idea with a economic foundation to bring about a complete evolutionary process and supersede communism, socialism, and capitalism in becoming the final ISM in the understatement how humans should continue through its journey.
In the short future we will be living for twice the life spans we currently live. It is stated that living to 150 years of age in the next century will be common, based on generic theory, doing away with most cancers, and organ 3d printing.
It is therefore more important than ever to evolve into a new political system called Humanism which will tackle not only the social issues but the economical issues. We as Humanist consider many things that been portrayed as the reason why we exist to be not true, ie. Gods. We do believe that humans can be good, and we should strive to be good. We also need to affirm that Money does not exist and that its idea created 3000 years ago in Babylonia is a form of economics not sustainable an inheritable bad for humans.
A new manifesto addressing a change from a Money based society, to a Resource based society. This will bond ideology to the economy evolution needed for a futurist world that is around the corner.
So imagine there was a treatment for saving someone's life and we took out of the equation, "you don't have the money for such treatment", how many lives would be saved.
Anything that currently has this restriction would be common, space station in the moon, the best drugs, a home for everyone, food for everyone. All managed by the economics of resource management.
The mechanism and bylaws so such an ideology is totally feasible and with the advent on the Internet, we can seek a global initiative to complete a Manifesto that encompasses both ideas and economics. Possible combining ideas from The Venus Project with Humanistic concepts.
Every country has a constitution, many newer countries have adapted old constitutions, like the French and the Greek, and fashioned it to there cultural principles. Some have a Preamble like USA and France even though France Preamble is not so eloquent as of USA. Then comes the Articles which is the meat and potatoes the Supreme Law of the land, as they state.
I submit that humanism if its to evolve to full political choice must do away with Manifesto, which is basically a public declaration of policy and aims not a true Supreme Law of the Land to abide by or follow.
We don't have to make Humanism a way of governess, we can't just let the other ISM keeping evolving and some how possible incorporate some form of Humanism in there by-laws, but I think this is wishful thinking. If above all humans must strive to be Humanistic in nature then why no make it a foundation of government.
Here is a example of a Possible Preamble
*Preamble
We humanity of the planet earth shall be an indivisible, secular, democratic and social SOVEREIGNTY of the entire earth. By virtue of these principles and that of the self-determination of Humans , in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense for all life forms, promote the general Welfare of all life forms, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to all humans.
Article 1
It shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race
or religion. It shall respect all beliefs. It shall be organized on a decentralize basis. Statutes shall promote equal access to all humans to the elective offices and as well as to position of professional and social responsibility. We regard the universe as self-existing and not created and does not deny the possibility of realities as yet undiscovered, but it does insist that the way to determine the existence and value of any and all realities is by means of intelligent inquiry and by the assessment of their relations to human needs. Religion must formulate its hopes and plans in the light of the scientific spirit and method.
You get the idea in this framework humanist that have a law degree can start to ratify a working version that does not have to be on perfect masterpiece, but can be a framework to build from a viable humanistic answer to the current ISM that are not going any where.
Yes kinda like in Star Trek the creation of the Federation.
The amount of talent in the Society we should be able to create a framework in no time, tapping to all the disciplines we have, I am sure we can come up with a rock solid approach, and yes like all of the past we most likely be tapping into the current articles and constitutions that exists to create a Humanistic one.
Just put the network to the task be done in no time, at a minimum will be left for posterity for some future human to use as a Guide when all goes to sh***t.
They did this on Star Trek when they formed the Federation...
Excellent assessment "full political choice" till present time, nothing has come close to a having another choice to evolution of Political ideology. Everything needs to evolve to a better system, maybe even using version control. There is currently no version control for Capitalism, Socialism or even communism,, how do we debug the current systems, there is not Capitalism 2.0 or Socialism 2.0.
Just like the manifesto is up to version 3, the new Humanism political Ideal should in Versions. After all none of these philosophical ideals Capitalism, Socialism, Communism come in version progression like if what was written the first time is the all encompassing perfection which is absolutely not the cases.
The concept is to take the fourteenth statement of the first manifesto to heart and write the road map to complete viable political choice instead of a empty statement that lacks the substance.
FOURTEENTH: The humanists are firmly convinced that existing acquisitive and profit-motivated society has shown itself to be inadequate and that a radical change in methods, controls, and motives must be instituted. A socialized and cooperative economic order must be established to the end that the equitable distribution of the means of life be possible. The goal of humanism is a free and universal society in which people voluntarily and intelligently cooperate for the common good. Humanists demand a shared life in a shared world.
and also the Tenth of the Second Manifesto
TENTH: Humane societies should evaluate economic systems not by rhetoric or ideology, but by whether or not they increase economic well-being for all individuals and groups, minimize poverty and hardship, increase the sum of human satisfaction, and enhance the quality of life. Hence the door is open to alternative economic systems. We need to democratize the economy and judge it by its responsiveness to human needs, testing results in terms of the common good.
The mechanism for a shared world and a evaluated economic system is lacking. If we start to explain such a new way of doing business, this is what will bring down the house of cards of Capitalism and Socialism. The road most likely will be in varied steps in an incline, each step harder to achieve the goal but it is the only way to reach the top of the mountain, there no elevator for this economic radical change, but it is a must.
The last Manifesto version 3 is really lacking the substance for the year 2020 an beyond, Is really lacking suggestions for the future, a suggestion is to start a Thread Called Manifesto Verion 3.1 and lets start getting to the substances, the meat and potatoes of the philosophy.
United States is pure capitalism. That doesn't mean the government doesn't provide services for it's citizens.
Actually, no. We're a hybrid system of Capitalism and Socialism. This largely took hold during FDR's time and is now accepted as Capitalism but it's not. I think the diarist has a brilliant idea. The common problem with humanism seems to be that it has no real details and an economic platform should fully legitimize it as a full political choice.
