What if Donald Trump and the Republicans will be able to change the loss into victory with the help of the courts?
Have we considered the possibility? So far Democrats have failed at every single thing in the last 4 years to remove Trump, indict him or make anything stick to him, Not a single thing has stuck to him. He has proven to be a Teflon President.
I am hopeful that Biden will be president in January 2021 but not confident. Therefore, I am not laughing yet. We have not had the last laugh even once in the last four years.
@St-Sinner I seriously canβt imagine what I would do (or at least want to do ... violence would be involved) if this vile person were to completely destroy our democracy because of his effing ego and hurt feelings.
I know itβs possible for some BS to happen to invalidate the will of the people. But I simply cannot live with that scenario. My mind refuses to accept that, or Iβd drown in blinding rage and sputtering impotence.
@Apunzelle
All of us here do not want Trump. But I am not talking about how Trump is. It is clear. We all agree that we do not want Trump re-elected by any means.
But I am saying it is possible with all Republicans, conservatives and possibly the US courts across the country including the SC getting behind him. Trump is capable of engineering it... it can happen. Trump has appointed over 320 federal judges in just 4 years more than any Democratic president in the last 40 years. The SC has an overwhelming conservative majority of 6 to 3. Also things that were thought as unimaginable have happened in the last 4 years.
We are doing the kumbaya dance too early.
This is a new test of the US democracy. It has survived all mean and sinister attempts before and I believe it will survive again. If Trump wins, Democrats will win the both houses in the midterms that the backlash to Republicans will be unbearable. The world is watching.
It is possible that Trump will serve the second term but the cost to Republicans will be very high.
If it were just one state he needed to flip, possibly. but he would need to flip at least two to win. Very unlikely.
I think even Trump knows it's over. Apparently, he is only continuing to refuse to concede because he wants to drum up donations from idiots who believe that he could still win. That way, he will have some campaign money to offer to other republicans later and it will add to his influence.
Trump's argument is throw out all mail-in ballots. They are in every state. Trump has won in in-person votes - very likely with help from Russia. I think the Biden campaign knew this would happen. Therefore, they planned the mail in vote to beat Trump in his own cunning game. It worked.
Trump ordered all federal agencies to prepare budgets today. He is operating as full force president.
It's a bonkers argument and he knows it. It's a front to continue collecting money.
If you can be sure yourself that Trump is not playing with courts where he has appointed over 300 federal judges and packed the SC with conservative majority, at least bring on a stay on states certifying until a final court decision is made and drag this on for 1 or 2 years while he gets ample time to clean his shit, shred documents, destroy evidence and resign so Pence can fully pardon him... then I will accept.
The problem is nobody is sure at this time if Trump can be forcibly removed. The defense chiefs said they would not do it, unless Biden is sworn in by the SC, the Secret Service will not escort him out. That is also unlikely to happen because Trump is going to drag multiple courts for a long time. He knows this game better than anyone.
We'll see. I think it's much more likely that he'll be out on January 20th.
