My disgust with the Republican party knows absolutely no bounds. A lame duck administration which lost "by a landslide", in Trump's own definition, pushing through a quickie sale of drilling rights to make America "energy independent"- which we could also be if we pushed clean energy research, except, oops, that doesn't line the pockets of the Republican party's corporate donors.
Here's hoping the EPA under President Biden and VP Harris will actually, I dunno, PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT and find a way to claw back these leases. Given the slapdash way the Trump administration has done every other damn thing, they're probably going to be found in violation of about 12 statutes anyway and hopefully the sales will be canceled before Drill One touches the ground.

Actions like this are perhaps the clearest indication that he knows he's leaving on 20 Jan., and all the talk about a "Rigged Election!!" is just a show to salve his pride, keep his base angry and keep the donations flowing. He really can't stand losing anything, and just like the court cases he's lost and the bankruptcies he's filed, he's pinning it all on "the corrupt system" victimizing poor Donnie, rather than on his own horrible qualities, his innate corruption, and his utter lack of qualifications to do anything other than being a self-promoter.
Trump may be the ultimate case of projection. All the times he calls others "lying and weak", when those are in fact his own core traits.
A big middle finger to America's environment on the way out of office. Meanwhile China has gone to a national EV fleet building a large infrastructure of charging stations leading to their energy independence. [macropolo.org]
