Who is the most famous person you've ever met face to face? Ive been to MANY sci_fi, comic, and fantasy cons and met tons of famous people. Who's your big meet?
Icant recall her name but I sat next to the elder female journalist that sat in the front row of the White House Press room and covered I think (guessing)6 presidents
Prince Charles. I was a plasterer at the time and our workers co-operative had just completed making and fitting a set of windows in the building so we were invited ot a very select opening of the New Enterprise Workshop in Liverpool. Prince Charles had a lot of bodyguards roaming around and some of them were giving us really bad eyes - I think they were just upset that we were roaming around too so they couldnt really have kept him safe- At the end point there was to be a a demonstration for the Prince of a 'hilti gun' we were all lined up to greet him and one bodyguard was glaring at all of us in line and teh other bodyguard was with the prince who had his back to us - The building was really empty and echoey with nothing in it but concrete and steel and the hilti gun made a noise like a gunshot - the guard watching us went white and nearly wet himself and tried to jump backwards to take the shot. When the Prince shook each of our hands in turn he said a few words - to me the only woman there he said "You look very clean for a lady plasterer!"
Robert Redford while Backcountry skiing in Colorado. He stopped and asked about the weather up the trail.
That's So Cool!!!
There have been so many over the years. Willie Nelson, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, John Wayne, Leon Russel,The Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ron Howard, Mr. & Mrs. Knott (Knott's Berry Farm). There are many more. They're just people.
My jaw kept dropping and my eyes got wider as I read your list...
and then I read that 'They're just people'... and you're absolutely right.
But still cool to meet them, especially if you get a chance to chat...
Oh, we chatted, except for Leon Russel. He didn't talk to anyone. I interviewed many people over the years. Even drank with some and smoked with others. It was a fantasy life for awhile.
I was a movie extra in both the Seabiscuit and Secretariat movies, so got to meet the actors in those.
I was the most intrigued by John Malkovich because "Being John Malkovich" is one of my favorite movies.
BJM is one of my faves, too! Just showed it to my elder son and he loved it!
I had dinner at a table next to Laura Dern in Jiko at the Animal Kingdom lodge at Disney World. Our kids played and we chatted. I never let on that I knew who she was. We were just a pair of moms.
John Doe, from "X", Dave Alvin from the Blasters, Screaming Jay Hawkins, quite a few musicians. I used to be a prop builder, I never saw one celebrity on the lot. My ex wife is a costumer, and she invited me to lunch, I believe it was on the Sony lot. We were standing in line and she nudges me and rolls her eyes to the left. I just shrugged my shoulders, we get to our table and she ask me if I know who that was...Me, no idea...Her, Brook Shields...Me, are you sure? Her, of course I'm sure, I dress her 5 days a week.
I've met quite a few people. The two most memorable before they passed away were Jackie Gleason and Danny Thomas. Gleason was an interview when I was interning in news, and Thomas was at a bank in Hollywood. I was just standing in line and someone had a baby in line and I heard him talking to the baby and said to myself, that voice sounds awfully familiar. I turned around and he was playing with this mother's baby. He really was the nicest sincerest person you could ever meet.
Back in 2005 I was doing security in new brunswick new jersey for the state theather and I met glen cambell
Lol. Billy Bob Thornton was doing sn indie movie in my town. My husband was the local liaison for props procurement. My youngest was 2 years old. We were on-set, and between takes, he walks over and introduces himself. I shook his hand, introduced myself (it was in Arkansas, so I had to give pedigree as well, since he is Arkansan and expected it, saying my husband is so-and-so, etc). Our daughter marched right up to him, stuck out her hand, and said, "Hi. I Juwie. I two." The whole crew busted up laughing.
While driving through a hotel parking lot, one day, I saw Maya Angelou walking. She turned around and we made eye contact for a few seconds.
Also, I literally ran right into Bonnie Raitt one day, while delivering a pizza to the Civic Center. She was playing that night, and had just finished her set.
I went to High School with, and occasionally see, John Stamos. Don Knotts was my 4th cousin. Elliot Gould at the Renaissance Fair, and the Porn Actor Peter North (Alden Brown) is a friend. Talked to Henry Winkler on a flight. Met Ted Danson and Sidney Portier at Carry Fisher's One person show at the Geffen. I had breakfast with Richard Dawkins at the 2009 Atheist Convention in Burbank. And met Bill Nye the Science Guy at Caltec during lectures by Dawkins and Sam Harris.
And in the 1980's I smoked a joint with and listened to Trevor Rabin of YES play acoustic guitar with my boss at the time at a restaurant after hours.
Oh, and met Wayne Gretzky and Madonna in an elevator at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in 2000.
I ran into Jonny Knoxville in an elevator at Cedars-Sinai, I guess famous people have medical needs as well, lol.He was trying really hard not to make eye contact.
Living in the LA area, I've seen quite a few, but I never approach them as I don't want to bother them. I've only talked at any length to one because she started the conversation: Jamie Lee Curtis at a "Spinal Tap" concert. She was very nice and down-to-earth! As for atheists/agnostics, I got to meet Richard Dawkins when he spoke at my University in grad school, and Daniel Dennett at a lecture... oh, and James Randi!
Mike Patton , Mr. T, Bill Mosely
When did you meet Patton?
@NothinnXpreVails He's been on tour here with several of the bands he's in. I met him twice in Chapel Hill NC at Cats Cradle when he came with Bungle and tomahawk. Nice, down to earth guy
@Missymaebee very cool
