I'm only imagining what her Guatemalan Catholic raised dad will think of this if it doesn't blow over 
And her super woke 16 year old sister is gonna lay into her about cultural appropriation.
I'm not sure how to delicately respond because it has been a very bad mental health year for her.

You can tell the teen that Islam is not a culture. 
Some points to mention: Islam allows for forced polygamy, rejects gender equality, sanctions slavery, conquest, maiming criminals and so on.
