Masks are to keep YOU from spraying your saliva into the air and onto others and surfaces. They work to keep OTHERS safe. That's why you should wear one. The maker can't promise you won't get infected, just as condom makers can't promise no transmission of STDs or new babies. User failure is a big issue with both.
