Was watching the news and had some on covid testing in China. What I found interesting is their medical staff were taking swabs through the mouth whereas in Australia we get "face raped" with swabs entering through a nostril.
Just wondering what the go is in other countries and if any medical people around could explain the difference in swabbing techniques and why.
Asking because I would much rather samples taken through the mouth and if an effective sample can be gathered vis the mouth I would like to know why we should accept swabs being shoved up our noses, which I found very uncomfortable and invasive..

The oral swab is said to be about 65ish% accurate and the involuntary skull fuck is about 96ish% accurate.
Snot it made up of mostly water, salt, protein, and chemicals that come from tissues in the nose, sinuses, mouth, gastrointestinal tract, throat, etc. The mouth washes out consistently through eating, drinking, and just regular swallowing. Your snot and boogers tend to stick and hold in place longer and any contaminants are contained in tighter concentrations. The color of your snot can say a lot because of what it is expelling.
Simple rule of thumb on covid though; if you're not concerned by getting the flu, you are about 99.99999% golden with covid.

@powder There's no need to apologists for words. She'll sleep fine tonight regardless of your words, and if not, that's on her. Face rape is an absolutly accurate assessment.
You walk into a situation with a particular expectations. You're not sure what to expect, but you don't expect it to be abusive. As you begin the consensual act, it becomes violent and non-consensual, and aside from kicking them in the balls (though most nurses don't have balls) they won't stop. Unless you become physically violent really fast, you have to take it to completion. Face rape is actually dead on accurate.
Equating covid testing with rape is grossly offensive.
