The stupidest thing i ever saw was a man in Venezuela, where they have hyperinflation, holding up a sign saying, the government won't pay for our medicine when the government paying for everything was the reason they had hyperinflation to begin with. I can see yiu liberal idiots now in the USA doing the same thing. When the cost of living skyrockets thanks To Biden and his communist idiots, yall will be demanding more free shit while everyone is starving around you. Fucking stupid
Ummmmm, "Biden's communist idiots"??? Who. Where. What The F are you babbling about?
It could also have something to do with the crippling sanctions places upon them by the global superpower.
There are plenty examples of governments being perfectly capable of funding healthcare for their citizens without disastrous economic consequences. In fact, single payer healthcare is very positive for a societies finances.
The reason for the dilemma in Venezuela is a corrupt, incompetent, authoritarian regime.
@powder I came across a youtube video that did a good job explaining the crash on the economic side relating to global oil trade and Venezuela. It was one I would have had to rewatch to fully grasp, as economics isn't something that I immediately understand, but then I couldn't find it again. If there are any good videos that anyone can recommend, it would be helpful.
@powder This part of it you have me beat in terms of understanding the value of the dollar. But now I feel I understand Venezuela's current economics 100% better (okay maybe I exaggerate) after watching a short video this afternoon. It had nothing to do with oil.
"the government won't pay for our medicine when the government paying for everything was the reason they had hyperinflation to begin with." Why would that be stupid? Why does the government exist? What is its purpose? If it is within its power to attain and distribute medication during a pandemic, why WOULDN'T they do it? WHY?
@Thirst2learn "If you can't figure out why then you're one of the people" What EXACTLY does THAT mean? I do not claim to understand the full economic goings on in Venezuela, but I think being a citizen during a pandemic and looking for your govt to help is not unreasonable, is it? Am I misunderstanding something here?
@Thirst2learn I think I see the point you are making, but want to know what should his sign have said instead?
@Thirst2learn Take responsibility? The basic neccessities are hard to come by for everyone from what I understand.
@Thirst2learn I don't know how much of it can be blamed on socialism and how much on the other ills of the nation. It would be something to hear someone completely dissect the situation in its fullness. I had thought it was more socialism, now I wonder.
Sanders promotes Communism. What a f'in supprise!
What are these attempts to smear Sanders? People who can't be honest will not admit there are some good aspects intermixed in some if these examples (referring to video 2). I just saw this on TV today, an instance where ppl can't be honest or fair to those who have a different opinion. Left wingers attacking a criminal justice activist because he dared to say something positive about Trump and have a positive interaction with another controversial right wing pundit. The Left is currently stuck in vengeful mode. Not a good place to be! People who focus on facts are not easily duped.
It's also something to listen Castro talk about the media in Cuba and the reality of what exists in the msm today.
You say smears, we say facts. He is a communist, a socialist at heart and he is lying through his teeth that he never was. People rejected him 2 times for president for a reason. Voters are not stupid. It would be like electing the right wing fringe group gal Marjorie Taylor Greene for president after she denies she never denied Parkland shooting or 9/11.
Far Right like Marjorie and Far Left Bernie are both bad for the country.
@St-Sinner Well the person you think of as Sen. Communist Sanders voted against the minimum wage hike during the pandemic, if I understand correctly, which was the right call for the time being. Sanders is more of an idealist than a communist and some of the good things he points out are truly good things. He is too extreme in some ideas, but if he could be well tempered by Congress and not use Executive Orders excessively he would have made a great president.
You are describing Bernie differently than he described himself as a socialist and communist in the videos above? You must be a God who knows more about people than they know themselves.
@St-Sinner I think Sanders has good qualitues to offer the country even though his ideas are somewhat extreme. And that's my godlike interpretation. (Jk, well about the godlike part)
I would like to see if he can deliver 5% of his pipedream as a senator. He has not delivered anything so far.
