Why no mention of when, where and how?
Why?
@barjoe Because
@waitingforgodo Love the Beatles.
@waitingforgodo 'Why' involves a lot of reasoning and a lot of "onion layer peeling " which never ends. A bottomless pit.The others are mostly factual which are easier to commit to memory and dealt with quickly.
Never heard that Beetle song before . Thanks for that
Asking a question with expectation of a response is an indication of high level of intellectual capabilities.
Agree but you also require to work flexibly and hard. A lot of people who are capable of that have other people to think for them [Mother alert and I suppose older siblings too] with the kindest of intentions.
Why is "Question anything" the wrong instruction? . Because the teacher should [ in some simpler way ] be saying 'Hypothesize' everything!' . An hypothesis is a question asked in such a way as to be tested - hopefully with an experiment i.e something changes which can be measured. I think that the kid in the cartoon maybe about 7 yrs which may be a bit young for him to understand . Adults with no science education cannot also see the difference between Hypothesis and question, so we can see the dilemma of the teacher in the cartoon and that makes it funny. Perhaps someone can tell the teacher what to say next? . We cannot just question everything but we can hypothesize everything which may of course produce a negative result.
Sorry if this is a bit too analytical . The cartoon is funny though, thanks for posting it.
