Colonial Pipeline CEO Tells Why He Paid Hackers a $4.4 Million Ransom
Joseph Blount says he needed to quickly restore service after cyberattack threatened East Coast supply
We should make it illegal to pay the ransom with a lengthy prison sentence. That will change priorities.
So he is supposed to go to jail to make you feel better. What exactly was your loss in this deal?
@Sticks48 No. If he was worried about going to jail he might fix his network before heβs hacked. That money means nothing to him. That cost will just get passed on to us.
@Bikes4Fish And how much more would the cost be if it stayed shut down. It is their business, not yours or anyone else's. It is easy to make choices that don't effect you.
Wouldn't preparation and prevention be better/cheaper ?
